No direct relationships between men

Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ; Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers;...."
Man, (or woman) who, like all men, is born in sin (alive in the spirit of the flesh but with a dead spirit), learns from the beginning to build himself up to "please" other men (or women). Now the word "please" in this sense means to impress men. This impression will take the form of either, to put it crudely, licking other people's boots or spitting in their face. Though people generally put on their best face in the world, their behavior to their intimates are the best indicators of how well they process hardship and conflict in this world. Being a "respecter of men" means that a person is oriented to manipulate others in to fulfill the inclinations of the spirit of their flesh. When one becomes born again, however, the freedom God gives them to repent is not just repenting of their sins. It is more importantly repenting of their attitudes and personal policies to use others and even themselves to satisfy their fleshly desires.
The purpose of God's design for the people and circumstances around each person throughout their whole life is to reveal to that person the quality of their relationship to God. God gives each person a sort of personal magnetism which draws circumstances and people to them which will bring up in that person the very truth about this relationship with God. This is the only reason for the circumstances that surround any person throughout their life. One way of putting it is you can't treat God better than you can your enemy;
"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life." Romans 5:8-10
"And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me." Matthew 25:40
"...but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart; With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men:....."
It is not possible to "please" men. It is only possible to flatter them, which amounts to fraud; a spiritual bribe. This is why believer's serve God as their master when they serve other men, whether those men be bad or good.
Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free....."
A "bond" man is one who is in bondage to self, sin and the world. A "free" man is one who has been freed from the bondage to self, sin and the world.
And, ye masters, do the same things unto them, forbearing threatening: knowing that your Master also is in heaven; neither is there respect of persons with him." Ephesians 6:5-9
